Honestly, I am not sure how we are getting so fortunate as to be adding such amazing, talented people into our team here at Tenato!
I think it’s easy to find technical skills, but it’s harder to find those in a really genuine person who will make the time to really listen to people. It’s like finding an new-fashioned skills in an old-fashioned personality! But in the world of social media, that’s exactly what you need to succeed! Online, it is easy to annoy people by spending all your time tooting your own horn, pushing information out, and never engaging as though you care about anyone but yourself.
This is why we are so pleased to find Amanda. She not only understands the latest in “social tools”, but has the down-to-earth “social skills” to really engage and make people want to “like” her. Maybe it’s because she’s from Saskatchewan? My husband’s family is from there — I’m told farming makes you a hard worker and a humble person at the same time….and all the people I meet from there seem to fit the bill!
She’s not quick to brag about her own successes, but I will say that I quizzed her myself to see what kind of things she’d done social media wise. She told me about her consulting practice (she’s known as “The Marketing Girl“) building several companies’ social followings to thousands, over incredibly short period of 3 – 6 months….which baffled me. And she is too honest to cheat by buying “Likes”or “Followers” either, to my great relief! But the thing that really floored me was that in her spare time, she’d co-founded a website called “The Birthing Site” (for which she makes no money — yet…it’s still new) which has enlisted 100+ volunteer contributors, spread over every continent! The site gets 20,000+ views PER DAY and has a reach of 5 million people a year (following of 25,000 on Facebook), less than half of which are in Canada. Wow!
So, welcome Amanda — we are thrilled you’ve joined us and really look forward to what you can do for us here at Tenato, and for all our clients. (We highly recommend you follow her at @TheMarketingGirl.)
NOTE: Amanda is already building a new social media strategy for Team Tenato. Stay tuned for an upgraded social media experience from Tenato Strategy coming soon!
