A university needed to know which kinds of businesses it should bring to campus in order to boost retail revenues.

Situation

Mount Royal University (Business & Retail Services area) needed a better understanding of how it might develop its retail goods and services on campus to attract more of surrounding communities onto campus. At the same time, an anticipated change in direction at MRU meant that our client needed research and recommendations in record time. This would require extensive research, fully documented to MRU’s standards.

Solution

Tenato mobilized our team, and many other resources in the community to uncover demographics trends, buying patterns, categorization of businesses and planned developments in the area. We also shot dozens of photographs and acquired opinions from community leaders. The result was an extensive report of over 100 pages with beautifully illustrated maps, produced on-time and on-budget, compliant to MRU’s branding standards. More importantly, it contained surprising insights, and specific recommendations to help shape the future retail offerings of MRU.

Results

In the words of our client, “The work done exceeded my expectations. If you ever need a reference from me for this type of research work please feel free to use me. With such a tight turnaround time I was really impressed with what your team pulled off.” Tenato would like to thank our friends at Calgary Economic Development Authority, the Calgary Public Library, Sherlock Maps, Turnstone Strategy, Environics and numerous community leaders for their timely participation and amazing work.
